I'm not one of the MMO people at all. But I'm a KOTOR fan so there's the issue.

I will say this: supposedly, you can play the whole storyline for each class by yourself, offline, if you want. So I suppose this is KOTOR 3 technically. I could be wrong.

Woooo PS3 purchased tonight. Got the new Ratchet & Clank, and Little Big Planet (both bundled with it) and also threw in Madden. Getting the hang of Madden currently... is amazing how much of a learning curve there is when there aren't really THAT many differences when you go from one madden to the next. Go from maxing out the scoreboard and stats to just barely ekeing out a 7-3 victory while getting maybe 150 total yards. Nothing like a different controller scheme to teach you some humility.

Dragon Age is next on the 'to get' list.

I think I am okay with not getting into any MMO's. But that is coming from a FPS/twitch shooter fan. I just like pointing a gun at a monster or terrorist or whatever and having them/it die...not just have a little number pop up over their head.

However, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Fallout 3, Borderlands, Dragon Age and a lot of these new school, action oriented RPG's with kick ass stories are all okay in my book.

got Dragon Age Origins today from my brother-in-law. So far, it hasn't captivated me completely, although I am only past the beginning story part.

Tell me it gets more intriguing?

I'm wondering if this game won't fall into the "so hyped I destined to be disappointed" stratosphere.

Tell me I'm wrong...PLEASE!!!!!!! I was so excited when I started.

I haven't played this (never had an N64), but I propose that Wrestlefest is, in fact, better. But it's an arcade machine, so...

My gamer tag is...

Look me up.

I love playing Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and Smackdown vs Raw 2010.

I cannot wait for Mass Effect 2 and Alpha Protocol to come out. I've had my reserve sitting and waiting for months.

Hell yeah Derek and Ollie, No Mercy rocks! I love it, it's got so much that SvR should take into account, as a matter of fact, didn't THQ make No Mercy back in the day?

I have one thing to say about Rogue Warrior, this piece of crap is quite possibly the worst game ever made, it has so much going against it and nothing for, stay well clear of this game unless you want to waste money even renting it.

Mass Effect is great. I'm yet to play Dragon Age, but I hear good things about it.

The one game i'm looking forward to in the new year is Red Dead Redemption, it's basically GTA in the old west....now that's going to be cool. Wink

If you've got Rock Band 2, Beatles: Rock Band, Left 4 Dead 1 or 2, or Borderlands, then sweet. We can play sometime.  Smiley

I still need to figure out what's wrong with my configuration where I can connect my 360 to the internet (and therefore download things) but I can't play against anyone. In the meantime, I'll still give my gamertag:

Are you hardlined into a modem, or is it wireless? If it's wireless it could be just effing up on you. If it's hardlined I'm not sure. Hardlined is the way to go.

Yes, I discovered that it wouldn't let me do multiplayer because I don't have Gold. I should use the month of free Gold I got with GTA IV so I can play Guitar Hero 5 with Weird Al Tuesday.

I think you can still play with people on your friend list if you only have Silver, can't you?

Not that I'm aware of, I'm pretty sure you need a Gold membership to play any of the online aspects of multiplayer...

Silver allows you to download only, I think.

Meant I couldn't play Halo with my housemates two years ago without investing in it...

Still need to get that game...I was gonna buy it at gamestop when I bought Darksiders, but either the computer lied when it said they had 5 copies in, or someone at the store is a good thief cause they looked for like half an hour and couldn't find a copy.

How do you like Darksiders, Derek?

I'm falling behind. I'm well into Assassin's Creed II and have Darksiders, Bayonetta, Uncharted 2 and Ninja Gaiden 2 still to go. AND Tuesday is BIOSHOCK 2 day and I have that reserved and payed off.

Oy.

It's an awesome game. At the start I had a hard time getting past the fact that it plays so much like God of War but wasn't God of War so I didn't think I'd like it that much...but then one night I realized I had been playing for like 4 hours and hadn't even noticed. It draws you in, and is fairly challenging as far as those type of hack and slash type games go. Really liking the story/concept behind the game as well.

I'd definitely say it's worth a full price purchase for anyone who likes that type of game.

never got into Bioshock. Maybe it's worth a 2nd look I guess but I have this thing about video games where you kill the same enemies over and over and over and over again. Bioshock was terrible about that. The Big Daddies all looked the same (which I could have dealt with had the common human enemies had some sort of uniqueness). Ultimately I quit playing it because it started to have the feel off the old NES games where the higher levels were just rehashes of the lower levels, only the bad guys would be like green instead of red or some bullshit.

PLUS, I don't like games where they just run you to death. Go from point A to point B. Then go from point b to point c, so you can take something from point c back to point a to unlock something that you need for point b. meh...

I may rebuy it if I can get it for about 19 bucks, but I was really pissed that I spent full revenue on that game at the time.

I remember having a discussion about this game with you. The storyline of the game is enthralling, but the repetitiveness is too frustrating, though. For me, a game with quirks or weaknesses like that have to have a storyline strong enough to cancel that out to even pique my interest. Mass Effect was SO buggy it was nigh unplayable, but the storyline was fucking brilliant. I wouldn't have even given a crap about the second one if not for that storyline, and I'm glad it was that good. Mass Effect 2 might be the best game I've ever played, and may be up there with Rock Band 2 and Brawl and Fallout 3 for my favorite ever.

I enjoyed Bioshock, but I played it and beat it on Hard on my first play-through and found no reason to play it again. It was really easy and really short and really repetitive, and that bummed me out.

P.S. Am stoked for Fallout: New Vegas.
