Hey everyone, I'm Eddie Hawn, handler of new WWA rookie "The Lion" John Grant.  You can read about John's information in the application section, and in fact I encourage everyone to do so and provide feedback:  I'm always looking for constructive criticism.  In the coming days I'll have a tryout match with John on January 22, and do my best to build up his career and, just as importantly, differentiate him from his father "Blue Inferno" Steve Grant, who was a legendary wrestler in the late '90s-early '00s.

But enough about John; lemme tell you about the person behind the persona.

Pro Wrestling

I've been a wrestling fan since I was a freshman in high school, starting in 1997 at the peak of WCW's popularity.  I, in fact, watched WCW exclusively from 1997-99, and the first wrestlers that gained my devotion were Glacier (don't laugh), Diamond Dallas Page, Chris Benoit, Lex Luger, Rey Mysterio and Ultimo Dragon.  My first "OH MY GOD I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!" jumping-up-and-down-screaming mark-out moment in wrestling was on the August 4, 1997 edition of Monday Nitro, in which Lex Luger made Hollywood Hogan tap out to the Torture Rack and won his World Heavyweight Championship.

In 1999, as WCW's quality was sagging severely, I started watching RAW during the commercial breaks of Nitro, skipping Thunder entirely, and watching SmackDown.  Around this time, WCW lower-midcard wrestler Lash LeRoux gained me as a fan, and on the WWF side I became a fan of Chris Jericho, Matt Hardy, and The Rock.

In 2000, when The Radicalz left WCW, I joined them, and started watching them (Benoit and Eddie Guerrero in particular) in the WWF.  I was still sad to see WCW go when the WWF bought them in 2001, but I'd long ago accepted it as inevitable that WCW was caught in a downward spiral from which it would never recover.

In my opinion, WrestleMania X-7 was the best WrestleMania they've ever done.  But my biggest-of-all-time (and last, that I can remember) mark-out moment was when Benoit won the World Heavyweight Title in the triple-threat match against Triple H and Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania XX.  I was down on the floor screaming at Triple H to "TAP, YOU SON OF A BITCH!"  And yeah, I was 22 at the time.  So sue me.

Of course, the last days of Benoit's life have permanently damaged my memories of him, but he's still my all-time favorite wrestler:  based solely on his in-ring achievements.  My favorite active wrestler is Chris Jericho, whom I believe is the best professional wrestler in the world today.  I also still like Hardy, and I enjoy watching CM Punk, John Morrison, Shawn Michaels, and Christian.

On a More Personal Note

I live in Virginia, though I consider myself to be from Indiana, where I moved when I was less than two years old and lived for about twenty years.  I'm a fan of the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers, and Washington Nationals.  (So hey, I've got at least one team I can celebrate nowadays).  I work in customer service, and though I'm not in school at the moment, I'm currently considering pursuing a degree in international relations.

So... I hope that gives you a little insight into the man behind the mask.  I look forward to socializing and roleplaying with all of you!  Private messages are always welcome.

Welcome to the WWA! We're glad to have you here.

Where in Virginia are you located?

I'm Josh, one of three staff members at the moment with Joe (Joe Stock) and Mark (mcharrytun). We have a good community of handlers here and I'm sure you'll have fun.

I'm in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia.  (Virginia Beach; Norfolk; Chesapeake, etc.)  I work in Virginia Beach, live in Chesapeake, and the rest of my family works in Norfolk.  (It's a bit confusing if you haven't been there.)

I'm sure I'll have fun, too.  You've certainly been quite friendly and helpful thus far, and I thank you for that.

I'm Ryan, I handle "The Frontman" Richie Stone. I also will probably be doing stuff with the WWA magazine and writing some matches.

Good to see some new blood here. Try the cake, it's delicious. Smiley

the first wrestlers that gained my devotion were Glacier (don't laugh)...

Welcome, and Glacier was the shit... When that WCW game came out for the N64 (forget the exact title..was THQ's first attempt at the wrestling genre I believe...maybe WCW/NWO Revenge) I didn't use any other character for like the first six months of owning the game.

Heh, it sure seems that way.  Even though I'm in the (general) Washington sports area, that just means we get MASN to watch the Orioles and Nationals games, we can see the Wizards (and Bobcats, opposite direction) games, and half the people here are Redskins fans.  But even when I see people around here with Nationals caps on and I've pointed it out to them, they say, "Nah, I'm not a fan; I just like the colors" or something.
